Visitors landing
at Lihue International Airport usually head for either the
south, east or north shore.
Sunny
Poipu Beach on the south shore, has 3 main beaches. The largest
one, Poipu Beach Park, has just been named America's best beach
for 2001. Poipu Beach is fringed with resorts and condos. Approximately
half an hour drive north of Lihue, is the east shore with its moderately
priced hotels and condos.
Kauai's
North Shore begins at the Hanalei Valley lookout with acres of ancient
Hawaiian taro fields.

Across the highway is The Princeville Resort community which is
home to The Princeville Hotel overlooking Hanalei Bay. A variety
of accommodations are available.

Traveling North, you will come to Hanalei Bay, a surfing mecca,
which has been used as a movie set by Hollywood for many years.
A
short drive North of Hanalei will bring you to famous Tunnel's Beach
and an inspiring view of Bali Hai. Be prepared for occasional rain
in the winter months, particularly on the north shore. A sunny day
on the garden isle is like heaven on earth.
