The West
Shore (Lahaina, Ka'anapali, Kahana, Napili, and Kapalua)
West Maui is home to historic Lahaina Town, whaling capital of the
Pacific
in the mid-1800s. Now it's a blend of historical sites, restaurants
and
shopping.
The Sheraton,
Westin, Marriott, Hyatt and Embassy Suites are the best known resorts,
fronting the two-mile stretch of beautiful white sand at Ka'anapali
Beach.

As you travel north, the shoreline is interspersed with pockets
of sandy beaches along the Kahana and Napili Bay areas, ending in
Kapalua.
The South Shore (Kihei and Wailea)

Kihei is known for its three beach parks and family priced accommodations
which are mostly condos.
Just
to the south of Kihei is the Wailea area, home to the Four Seasons,
Grand Wailea, and other luxury resorts and condos. Gorgeous beaches
abound. Just
35 years ago this area was a desert. it's perennially sunny,
with less
than a foot of rainfall per year.
Upcountry and the Road to Hana

A drive through East Maui takes you through Upcountry Maui, cowboy
and farming country, to the spectacular heights of Haleakala, a
dormant volcano. This area is dotted with bed and breakfasts.

The Road to Hana along the north shore is a scenic coastal drive,
taking you to the quaint little village of Hana, home to the renowned
Hotel Hana Maui and several bed and breakfasts.
